Personnel
Jeffrey Wengrofsky

Jeffrey Wengrofsky is the Director and Producer of the Syndicate. He presently writes for Coilhouse magazine, teaches at New York University, and is in his second season as an actor in Speakeasy Dollhouse, a true tale of murder, sleaze, and forensic science. Previously, this Wengrofsky was the host of Profiles of the Downtown Music Scene at The New School, TerrorSex Cabaret, Voo Doo A Go-Go, and was on the editorial staff of Constellations: An International Journal of Critical and Democratic Theory for its first five years. His words have appeared in the pages of the Berkeley Journal of Sociology, Maximumrocknroll, New Political Science, PS: Politics and Policy, Vehement Renaissance, and elsewhere in the world of letters. As a DJ, he has purveyed bad taste at Club Luxx, Club New York, Webster Hall, The Limelight, C.B.G.B. Gallery, The Raven, The Knitting Factory, The Coral Room, Cake Shop, Elbow Room (Ypsilanti, MI), and most recently at the Red Lotus Room. His voice can be heard on a podcast by National Magazine Award-winning Tablet magazine's Long Story Short series regarding punk and Jewish history: http://www.tabletmag.com/arts-and-culture/music/78206/rejects/

Brian Wengrofsky

Brian Wengrofsky is an accomplished SinEmoTographer who believes that balancing a life of vice and productive community service (aka filming bad boys and girls) is the S.H.I.T. His documentary credits include A LION'S TRAIL, winner of the 2006 Emmy Award for Documentary Film, which was shown at Cannes and on PBS's Independent Lens, as well as WHEN THE WAR IS OVER and THE MOTHER'S HOUSE, both of which aired on the Sundance Channel. In 2010, he shot his second season of MAL ZWISCHENDURCH (IN BETWEEN) for German television, the narrative short SPONGE, and documentary projects in Haiti and Indonesia. www.brianwengrofsky.com

David Kavanaugh

David Kavanaugh is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker. His work in cinematography and lighting for film and television has taken him to exotic locations in North America, Africa, and Asia. Mr. Kavanaugh has worked on set with several of cinema's established greats as well as up-and-coming darlings such as: Robert Frank, Sidney Lumet, Ramin Bahrani, Lisa Rinzler, Benh Zeitlin, Michael Cuesta, and Peter Sollett. In his free time, Mr. Kavanaugh illustrates comic books and enjoys editing and shooting for the Syndicate. He prefers New York-style pizza over Chicago-style deep dish and hopes to one day build a geodesic dome in the Catskills.

A refugee from the heart of Texas, Dan Schanler wrangles documentaries, short films, and news footage with a tender savagery that drew his interest to the Syndicate. His mark can be found on the blog of THE WEEK magazine and on two documentaries directed by Jonathan Demme: JIMMY CARTER: MAN FROM PLAINS and RIGHT TO RETURN. His directorial debut, THE MOTEL, based on Thomas Ott's graphic novel CINEMA PANOPTICUM, is currently screening at film festivals.
